February is coming in like a...Wrecking Ball! January is going out with a Bang!!

February is upon us...can you believe it? What an amazing year so far. We have been growing and learning so much. We still have a lit if work ahead of us; but with your continued support we will continue to grow.

This year your child will be embarking on the New York State ELA and Math Assessments. We will begin prepping for their tests which begin in April. Keep an eye out for tips that come home for you to practice with your child.

Humanities: We have just wrapped up our unit on Notable, Creative, and Inventive People. Students have completed multiple projects encompassing the knowledge that they have gained through the past weeks. We are beginning our unit The People, The Preamble, and The Presidents where students will be reading informational texts about the people who came to America and established a new government in the eighteenth century. They will also be learning about the lives of presidents through research. Students will also engage in learning about The Constitution came to be.

Writing: we have just wrapped up writing informational books where we taught like experts! We are taking our writing to the next level by embarking in research!! Students will be conducting research on topics that students do not know in depth yet...but we will learn!! We are continuing paragraph writing focusing on topic sentences including details.

Family Barnes and Nobles Night

Please join us this Thursday in the library at Westminster Community Charter Schoolor our first every Family Barnes and Noble Night. We wanted to share what we do every Friday in the classroom with our families. Come prepared to kick off your shoes, find a comfy spot in the library and dig into some great books with your child. All are invited and you can even wear your pajamas. This even will be from 5:30-7:00...hope to see you there!!!
